20th Annual White Cane Banquet 2008

The White Cane Banquet has been an annual event hosted by the Omaha chapter for the past twenty one years. Its goals are: To recognize Omaha businesses that have hired and accommodated blind employees. To educate the public on issues that are a concern to the blind along with demonstrating to others that a blind person with adaptive skills and a positive attitude can be a productive member of society. To raise money for Newsline, which is a program that allows the blind to access the Omaha World Herald, Lincoln Journal Star, and other national newspapers through the telephone. The White Cane Banquet is also a major fund-raiser for the Omaha Chapter, making it possible for us to work on local projects that are designed to make Omaha a better place for its blind members.

The keynote speaker for this year will be Dr. James Nyman, Former Director of the Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The 21th annual White Cane Banquet will be held this year on November 8th, 2008 at the Omaha Marriott Regency Hotel.
