The National Federation of the Blind (N. F. B.) is not an organization speaking for the blind; it is the blind speaking for themselves. Now with 64 years of service and over 50,000 members throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, it strives for the goal of full integration of the blind into society. The objectives of the NFB include the removal of political, economic, and social barriers, and to educate the public about new concepts concerning blindness. With proper training and opportunity, blind individuals can reach their potential both personally and professionally, and participate in their communities as first class, contributing citizens.
You can trust that your donation to NFBN will be used for programs serving blind persons. The majority of our membership is composed of blind women and men, and it embraces families and friends as well. Established, supported and managed by the blind, the NFB can provide public education, information and referral, outreach, advocacy and legal aid, college scholarships, support for the newly blind, resources for blind children and their parents, and NEWSLINE FOR THE BLIND. By participating in our “Walk for Independence,” you help us reach our goals of security, equality, and opportunity for the blind.
OUR THANKS GO TO OUR LINCOLN CHAPTER FOR HOSTING “WALK FOR INDEPENDENCE 2007,” THANKS TO ALL FEDERATIONISTS WHO MAKE IT SUCCESSFUL, AND THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO JOINED THE NFBN by WALKING or SPONSORING. WE APPRECIATE YOUR PARTICIPATION AND GENEROSITY
